Dear Parishioners,
Every summer, we expect to have the opportunity to enjoy many activities that the winter months do not allow. During these months, many families travel to the lakes and parks, have cookouts, and now enjoy the warm, sunny (humid) weather.
I appreciate each of you and your presence on campus: at St. Louis Church, St. Louis School, and Saint’s Place. I hope and pray that, during these summer months, you all enjoy health of mind and body and can do all the things you love without COVID restrictions.
We have had a very busy and fruitful spring. On April 26th, 39 students were Confirmed at the Sacred Heart Cathedral by Bishop Matano. In May, we held First Communion for 58 students, and our very own Gerard de la Fuente was ordained into the Permanent Diaconate. Deacon Gerard will continue assisting us while officially serving at St. Mark’s Parish. On June 19th, we started the Eucharistic Revival with a Corpus Christi Eucharistic procession outside the Church after the 10:30 AM Mass, and Adoration and Confession that afternoon. This week, our school year ended with our annual Godspeed Mass, prayer service, and a trip to Seabreeze. The activities continue into the summer with the preparations for the Annual Saint’s Place Sale, which all are invited to stop by and shop from July 6th - July 9th.
Regarding our Faith Formation Program, as many of you already know, I accepted Michelle Andrews-Smith’s “transfer” to the University of Rochester Newman Center as Associate Director of Campus Ministry. On behalf of all the generations of children and youth she has served, I would like to say: Thank you for all you have done, and God Bless you, Michelle! Our search for a new Faith Formation Director has already begun.
There will be minor changes at the Ministry Center and the School, as we adjust to carry on with business in the best way. At the School, Principal Eileen Schenk is expecting a child in September, and the interim Principal, Mary Beth Boyle, is already assigned.
Our church HVAC replacement project has been pushed back to Fall. But the summer will still be filled with various maintenance projects.
I am blessed to have our new Parochial Vicar, Fr. Simon Atta Denchira, who, with Fr. Hoan Dinh, will be instrumental in aiding the Parish’s spiritual growth. And finally, I am thankful for all the well wishes and gifts on the 40th Anniversary of my ordination.
Wishing you abundant blessings during the Summer.
I remain yours, Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Mitch
